A concept becomes an Intellectual Property when it is nurtured and enriched with creativity and know-how. With many hackathons and coding contests happening we are getting to see an innovative and creative side of our students, they have been coming up with astonishingly bright ideas and therefore it becomes a necessity to preserve and protect the brain child of our budding engineers. Keeping this in view, Department of Computer Science & Engg, GNIOT, organized a workshop on Intellectual Property Rights on 16th November, 2021 at 11:00am in Seminar Hall. Head of the Computer Science & Engg. Department, Dr. Rajdev Tiwari welcomed the Keynote speaker, guests and participants. He encouraged students and peers to come up with innovative ideas and get them protected without a much ado for their own benefit. Director of Engineering Institute Dr. Dhiraj Gupta Inaugurated the session and highlighted the importance of intellectual property and cited many examples where these legalities have played an important role in business across the globe. Intellectual property is a new kind of property, and so the understanding uses new control surfaces. It uses a new way of defining the property and to raise awareness on the importance of IP rights in fostering innovation and creativity an IP Attorney Mr. Kumar Tushar Srivastava was invited to deliver an expert talk. He is Bell Certified IP Professional having experience of more than 14 years in a broad range of Intellectual Property subject matters. He is an advisor for individual inventor, university researchers, incubation centers, worldwide companies, start-ups and other institutions on IP, innovation and related strategies for various jurisdictions such as India, USA, China, Japan and Korea. Mr. Srivastava delivered a very informative and relevant session on the critical matters of Trademarks, Copyrights, Patentability Searches etc. He enlightened students on Provisional Patents, IP Analytics and various procedures involved. Event was extremely beneficial and was attended by 150 participants.
