The Department of CSE in association with Institutions’ Innovation Council–IIC- Ministry of Education Initiative, organised a mentoring session “ Angel Investment and VC Funding for Early Stage Startup and Entrepreneurs” for 2nd year students on 13th June 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Expert and Speaker of the event was Prof (Dr.) Anuranjan Mishra, Dean(IIRP), GNIOT.
The objective of this session was to explain the Angel Investment and VC Funding for Early Stage Startup and Entrepreneurs concept to the students that focuses on financial issues related with product development.
Prof. Mishra discussed in details Angel investing which involves individual investors, often high-net-worth individuals, who provide capital, expertise, and mentorship to early-stage companies in exchange for equity. Angel investors are typically more flexible in their investment terms and often play an active role in guiding the startup. On the other hand, VC funding involves institutional investors who pool together capital from various sources to invest in startups with high growth potential. VC firms offer larger funding amounts, conduct extensive due diligence, and often require a significant equity stake. VC funding can provide startups with not only capital but also access to valuable networks and resources. Both angel funding and VC funding opportunities are essential for startups, but the choice between them depends on the specific needs and goals of the entrepreneur.
After the session, queries of students were taken by the speaker providing them a platform for interaction.
Dr. H R Singh and Dr. J S Prasad was the coordinator for this session . A special thanks to Dr. Dhiraj Gupta (Director, GNIOT), Dr. Sanjay Katiyar (Dean Academics) and Dr. Sandeep Saxena (HOD , CSE) for their continuous support and motivation
