A student’s guidebook to self-motivation
In the fast-paced world that we are currently living in, the crazy and ever-changing social media trends and traps, the constant urge to succumb to virtual distractions, it’s really a mammoth task to tame our student mind!
Self-motivation in student life is a crucial aspect which can make or break not only careers but lives.
To unlock the path to a successful life, full of exciting challenges and milestones it’s important to have motivation from not only external factors but from within.
This blog is an attempt to carve out a path for young minds and help them with practical real-world measures for self-motivation and keeping up on the plans you set for yourself….
Let’s meet Ashish! Ashish is a typical engineering grad, going through turmoil of choosing higher studies or pursuing master’s after his bachelors …. he is confused, derailed and highly demotivated. Wasting away his precious time in “watching self- motivation videos” and never-ending reels and mindless you tube shorts…. What to do and how to go about his life, these questions pose a real challenge for him.
Ashish directly or indirectly represents today’s youth and their lives. Many students lack the necessary tools to self-motivate and discipline themselves for committing to their future, vision, goals and ambitions in life.
A self-motivated person is the one who should not only focus on his target but knows how to go about his goals in a crystal-clear manner. A student must possess the following qualities in order to feel motivated and empowered.
He or she must:
- Be enthusiastic
- Clear in his vision
- Have a positive attitude towards failure
- Not allow overthinking and fear of failure to cloud his mind.
- Be consistent and honest in re-staring after a setback
The above-mentioned points are life super powers which can help a student achieve academic excellence as well as personal happiness. As I had been a self- motivated student myself during my college days I would like to share some time tested tips for staying motivated in life.
Tips for becoming self- motivated are:
Set a realistic goal for yourself. do not allow your mind to engage in unrealistic goals whims and wishes. Don’t just be a realist but assign a time frame to go about your plans and it should be relevant time bound achievable and measure able.
Visualize your success! in order to feel the happiness your success will bring you must visualize each and every detail of your result. Totally ignore the unwanted details and simply focus on your result!
Curiosity is the key to generate interest and keep you going. be inquisitive and be open to changes in in your life path …. Things will keep happening, but you have to remain the constant in all this chaos.
Time management , time is like tides , once gone will never come back again. Be very clear about how you want to spend your free time and set clear rules for yourself… maintain a time table and stick to it.
Avoid complacency and never allow yourself to give up on your dreams and goals. Keep in mind that consistence and hard work will take you to your destination one day.
Be your own cheer leader and celebrate every milestone however small. Never forget to pat your back and allow your close ones and your family to participate in the same.
Limit your social media time and actively follow up on yourself, in this crazy world of virtual lives and imagery don’t forget that ultimately social media is nothing but just a mere distraction. It is just for passing time and deserve nothing more then short breaks so be very aware that you need to limit your time on social media and not get trapped by thinking “bas thori derr aur bas 5 minute aur…”
If you follow the above tips with consistency and discipline then nothing can stop you from achieving your goal. Be open to suggestions but learn to pick and choose.
Always remember there is no shorter way to success but a smarter way does exist !
Don’t be the Ashish…instead follow the tips and prioritize your success over anything else.
Remember, Rome was not built in a day so..take small but solid baby steps towards self-motivation… keep dreaming and keep achieving !!!!
