WHAT IS COMMUNICATION ?

Meaningful expression of conversations among two or more people is termed as Communication.

Communication is one of the basic necessities to exist in this world.

To build up a good rapport in any sector of business, Good communication skills are needed whether verbal or written.

VERBAL – NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION

During the conversation ” WHAT is SAID”& ”HOW it is SAID”, includes verbal communication.

And NON-VERBAL  communication includes eye-contact, facial expressions and body language.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION

When thoughts and ideas are expressed with clarity in written form it is included as Written communication. For example Documents, Essay , text, summaries , mails ,applications…

There is one more type of Communication known as:

VISUAL COMMUNICATION

Usage of Graphs, Charts, Photographs, Maps and Logos to convey the information is known as visual Communication.

IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS

As already mentioned communication skills play a vital role in all aspects of life. Therefore let us discuss some information that helps in changing the situations in professional and personal context.

  1. BODY LANGUAGE – When we use our physical behavior to express or convey the information it is known as Body Language .It mostly includes eye contact, movements of hands and shoulders ,posture and composure . Our body language can make all the difference in how people recognize us and vice versa.
  2. CONFIDENCE– Being confident allows us to convey our communication with clarity and in convincing mode. It takes us forward with our opinion and protects us from being defamed.
  3. RIGHT MEDIUM OF CONVERSATION— It is very important to pick up the right one. For example, talking about serious or personal matters on mobile or telephone is better than just sending text mail or messages.
  4. KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE —Of Course, there are basic ways to communicate with most of the people. There are situations when we have to talk about the same topic but with Different People ..for example ‘Advice’ ..when we interact with our juniors or our co-workers our tone and words vary accordingly.
  5. RESPECT OTHERS OPINION -Respecting others while acknowledging them, is a very important aspect of Communication. When we appreciate the opinion of others it will definitely lead to successful, honest and effective results.
  6. BE A GOOD LISTENER FIRST –If you want to be heard, first be a good listener. Then one may decide whether to agree or disagree with the conversation.
  7. EFFECTIVE SPEAKING —Usage of fewer words and straight to the point effort, will create a good impact on the audience.
  8. BEING FRIENDLY WITH OTHERS – Quality of being friendly is a great practice of a skilled communicator.
  9. KEEP WORKING ON IT —-Updated work, presence of mind and enhanced memory will always bring success in life.

CONCLUSION

GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS are the key to do well in Personal and Professional life. Respect everyone not on the basis of caste, job, religion and social status but as being Human. Love, Trust, Honesty, Truthfulness —- Integrity and Ethics are the foundations of Communication Skills .Make use of these Communication Skills and You Yourselves will know its importance in Your life . Always remember .. Good communication skills develop a Strong Bond and Positive outlook on life.

No matter what Job You have in life , Your Success will be determined 5% by Your Academic Credentials ,13% by Your Professional Experiences ,and 80% by Your COMMUNICATION SKILLS .
