To mark the Birth Anniversary of The Hockey Magician Major Dhyan Chand and National Sports Day, The Sports Club “Spardha” of GNIOT Institute of Management Studies (GIMS), Greater Noida organized a one-day sports event, Yuvspandan- The Sports Extravaganza, inside the College premises on 27th August 2021. Committing to fulfill the meaning of five S’s of sports – STAMINA, SPEED, STRENGTH, SKILL & SPIRIT, the only intention of the event was to create an active and fun environment among the keen learners to triumph the spirit of Sportsmanship in terms of supporting each other, Youthfulness and Togetherness which would help them to rise and shine together.
The event was successfully conducted under the Leadership and guidance of Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, Director, GNIOT Institute of Management Studies. All the faculty members, Area-chairs, students, and the staff worked as a Beacon, and with their combined efforts, the whole event was a success.
Yuvspandan included five games, including Shuttle Run, Futsal, Disc Targeting, Table Tennis, and Blind Drawing. Chanting the Mantra of Sportsmanship and Team spirit, several students from the first and second year of the PGDM Programme participated in different games.
The event kicked- off with Shuttle Run under the guidance of Prof. Mayank Pandey (Head-PGP) and co-ordination of Shweta and Satyam (PGDM I Year). Aditi Kumari, PGDM First-Year, secured the winner title in the Women’s category while Niket Nandan, PGDM First-Year, confirmed the winner position in Men’s Category. Dr. Ruchi Rayat (Dean, OSW) successfully navigated the process of Table Tennis. along with Anuj Pratap Singh, PGDM II Year. Ansh Sharma, PGDM Second-Year, hit the bull’s eye and confirmed the winner’s slot in style. In another exciting and fun Indoor game called Blind Drawing, Niharika and Shweta, PGDM I Year clinched the winner’s position leaving the tough contenders way far behind. Komal Rani, PGDM Second-Year, successfully coordinated the game. While in another Indoor team game, Disc Targeting, a total of 34 contenders fought to earn the top spot. Janmesh Soni, from PGDM I Year under the guidance of Dr. Shalini Sharma (Area-chair, CRC and CnD), coordinated and eyed the game to find the final winning team from PGDM First-Year – Yatharth Tyagi, Pawan Thakur, Bhavna Gupta, and Mohit Kumar. Lastly, Prof. Pradeep Verma (Area-chair, IT/BA) and Sachin Sharma, PGDM Second-Year, coordinated Futsal and found the ultimate winners. With team efforts, Sachin Sharma, Ansh Sharma, and Mojahid Ahmed Siddiqui, PGDM Second-Year, turned the tables for them and became the winner. Amidst all the fun and fervor, the event culminated into the Closing Ceremony where the winners were felicitated by Director- GIMS, Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, along with Prof. Mayank Pandey (Head-PGP), Dr. Ruchi Rayat (Dean- OSW), Dr. Shalini Sharma (Area- chair, CRC and CnD), Prof. Pradeep Verma (Area-chair, IT/BA) and Dr. Ankit Goel (Area-Chair Finance). Keeping the potential and strength in their minds, students shone throughout on the playground of the Chanakya Block. The event wrapped up emphasizing the importance of Sportsmanship, citing Lord Krishna as the unabated Connoisseur of Sports in our daily and corporate life.
