“Nusantara Project” for PGDM II Year
In today’s world, going global is the need of the hour. GIMS ‘Centre for International Education & Research’ (CIER) organized the global virtue team in association with AIBPM for the NUSANTARA project. The objective was to make our millennials focus not only on international research but also understand the cultures and practices globally along with enhancing their global network.
The Association of International Business & Professional Management (AIBPM) is an international, interdisciplinary organization committed to advancing international business, business communication research, education, training and professional management practice.
The AIBPM seeks to become the association in the field of business and management by promoting excellence in teaching, increasing knowledge within the discipline, encouraging international business classes to better prepare students, and improving the quality of professionalism in the workplace. To reach all the purposes, we plan to incorporate many technologies for enhanced communication and provision of the services they most need.
In this project, students from different educational institutions, not just in India but from different countries such as Indonesia and Kuwait, participated. Teams were formed on a random basis and in each team, there were around 6 members having 2 students from the same institute.
So, the very first task was to interact and get to know each other a bit and students shared their email addresses and contact numbers with one another to stay connected. After that they were all asked to mutually decide a team leader for each team. The next task was to decide the domain in which they wanted to conduct their research along with the topic of their research.
AIBPM used to conduct meetings with all the participants on a weekly basis in order to brief them about the next step towards their project and to share the guidelines and instructions for the same and students were asked to share their takeaways soon after the meetings as assignments. All the students were asked to join Google Classroom as it was the platform where they used to upload their assignments and where all the information related to the Nusantara project was shared with the students’ time to time such as the next task, deadlines etc.
Students were also asked to share weekly progress reports with the Nusantara team to see how they were doing in their project.
They were also briefed about conducting research, methods of data collection, report making etc. as it was an international project which will be published so the Nusantara team had to make sure that the work was original and proper plagiarism auditing was there to ensure the authenticity of the submitted work.
After the submission of the final report, team leaders from each team were asked to present their work along with one team member from their specific team at an international conference.
As an outcome of the project all the participants were benefited in terms of knowledge, experience and other aspects such as:
• How to work in a team.
• Conducting research.
• Working with people from different cultures and countries.
• Leadership skills etc.
