MBA & PGDM Course- Type, Specialization, Eligibility, Formats?

One of the most celebrated courses in India are PGDM and MBA, these courses are not only proven to career accelerator but also provide excellent grooming to aspirants.

Every Year almost 3 lakh aspirants used to appear for various Management Entrance Examinations like CAT, MAT, ATMA, XMAT etc.

Despite this high enthusiasm and interest in pursuing management programs we often listen stories about MBAs not getting jobs, some percentage of management graduates are un-employable & so on so forth.

We believe this is because people do not to proper research and pursue Management courses like any other whereas they should be choosing specialisation according to their personality type, interests & capabilities. Lets start by understanding the type of management programs on offer from various institutes like IIMs, XLRI, GNIOT etc.

E-MBA (Part time): If you are thinking it as E is for Electronics then you are wrong, here E stands for Executive MBA. This kind of programs are designed for working professionals especially part time courses. This gives working professionals a chance to learn managerial aspects of business, garner leadership acumen and qualities and grow further in their respective career or to chance to switch their field of work. This programs often offer evening or weekend classes which makes it extremely convenient for working professional to pursue the MBA dream and grow.

Most suitable for: Working professionals.

Eligibility: Completed 2-4 years of work experience (Changes as per institute’s Guidelines)

What to Expect: A learning & deeper insight in management principles, connection establishment with likeminded Peers, capability enhancement.

Executive MBA (full time): A full time executive MBA is mostly one-year residential program which is designed for Experienced professionals seeking new calibre development and seeking mid-career learnings into the field of management. Typically, the age of participants of these programs is between 32-42 years. Program fees is high compared to their management programs as most often fees are taken care by participant’s organisation as part of their human resource enrichment program.

Most suitable for: Mid-career professionals seeking bigger responsibilities and leadership roles.

Eligibility: 5+ years of experience, Suitable profiles according to specialization and Institute’s aspirant applying to.

What to Expect: Deeper insight in management principles, Guidance on leadership roles, their functions and skill development accordingly. Leadership skill enhancements.

MBA/PGDM (full time) – The most recognised and sought-after management programs fall under this type. Students from almost all streams pursue these programs.

From a simple art. Commerce or science graduate to B.Tech. graduates OR MBBS doctors also prefer to enrol for these programs as the seek better leadership roles after successful completion of MBA/PGDM program. These programs can be pursued in many specializations. One must consider mainly three attributes before selecting specialization 1- His/her own interest. 2- Orientation of the aspirants 3 – Institutes credentials regarding specialization.

Most suitable for: Fresh Graduates, Career seekers in management roles in corporate work environment.

Eligibility: Any Graduate,

Admission Process: Should clear the admission process which generally comprise of Written test, Group Discussion & Personal Interview.

What to Expect: Learning and insights of management subjects and practical implementation of management principals, a chance to work with Companies on entry-level OR mid-level roles.
