Balancing the mediums

If you see an empty plastic water bottle lying on the roadside; what would you do? Let me tell you, either you will decide to be a civilized citizen by throwing that bottle into a nearby trash can or you will test your soccer skills. And that’s life. How well it has been devised. It has many things to offer to an individual at every step he makes in his daily routine. It can give an individual to practice his civilization or soccer skills. It depends on an individual what to choose but as I have mentioned, life has been devised in such a way that it has another option to offer and that is “balancing”. An individual can dribble that empty plastic water bottle into that trash can and dump it with a rainbow flick. That is known as balance. He can practice civilization and soccer skills both at the same time.

From school life to college life, from parents to teachers, we all have been advised to do well in studies and extracurricular activities. If a kid can manage to balance these two things, he is considered as the whip-smart student and receives the ticket for being the monitor or class representative of the class.

The same kid joins post-graduation course get the professional grooming and exposure. During this phase of life, he gets smacked with various tasks to perform simultaneously like assignments, projects, group activities, extracurricular activities, coordinating events, managing the assigned clubs. After his education, he joins profession where he dabbles to accomplish the assigned work or project between 9 to 5. This is enough to stale out whole blood from an individual’s body. But if we keep all these factors aside for a while and look up diagonally with a thinking look-alike face and question ourselves that whatever we do, through which medium we answer, communicate and carry out the tasks? Either we write the answers on paper, speak to answer, or type the answers on MS word, excel, PowerPoint, or any other software. Is there any other medium to respond to the tasks with? I guess not. If you are given the task to make a report you will type, if you are asked to give a presentation you will speak to address the topic and if you are given the task to maintain a journal of your daily routine then you will write it down on a notebook or diary.

People are either good at writing, typing, or speaking. Some people are good at all the communication aspects. As in my case, earlier, I was good at speaking and writing both but with influence of technology, I got shifted towards typing than writing. My efficiency of writing shifted towards typing. The way we communicate with friends on chat by typing rather than speaking, it has also affected my speaking skills. Typing has affected me in such a way that it has now become my comfort zone. If you ask me to write an essay of 600 words on paper, I will refrain from it but if you ask me the same for typing it on MS Word, I will happily take that task the way I took this blog to write.

Through this self-observation I conclude that we also have to maintain the balance and efficiency between these three mediums: Speaking, Writing, and Typing so that thought of refraining from any particular medium never strikes again.
