Post Graduate Diploma in Management ( PGDM ) is most preferred course among graduate as well as corporate executives.

This course offers various specializations like marketing, finance, human resource, information technology, business analytics, international business etc. Each specialization investigates about the basic functions of that particular domain with practical exposure.

Here, I am highlighting about marketing specialization. PGDM with marketing specialization enable you to understand need and want of the customers, discover target market and prospective customers, product development process, sales process, after sales service along with customer relationship management. You must know the career opportunities after PGDM with marketing specialization.

There are multiple options available across the globe. Following are the main career opportunities after PGDM with marketing specialization:

  1. Business Development Manager (BDM): This position is like a sales manager. BDM need to create and acquire more business for the organization. This position accompanies a great deal of advantages like commissions and rewards. A BDM makes a normal compensation between INR 5 lakhs to 10 lakhs.
  1. Sales Manager: A sales manager is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing and directing sales team. Each sales manager has their own sales territory with sales target and they are supposed to manage their sales team to achieve the sales target. There is very handsome reward & recognition system for sales managers.
  1. Market Research Analyst: A market research analyst can work in any organization where market study is on high priority. They are responsible for analyzing market conditions, consumer behavior etc. to understand current pattern. Such information helps strategic manager to formulate strategy to compete the competitors. Market research analysts are mainly involved in description, exploration and identification of cause & effects with the help of data analysis.
  1. Brand Manager: Brand managers are responsible to manage the brand of the company. They create brand stories and communicate with the general public for creating awareness. A brand manager work closely with the marketing, advertising & promotion departments. Brand management requires creativity and administrative skills.
  1. Public Relation Manager: Public relation managers are responsible managing the information between the organization and the general public. A PR manager manages media relations as well to enhance visibility of the organization in media. They are supposed to analyze the organization’s background and culture and make sure no doubts about it among the people. A PR manager also manages multiple projects at the same time.
  1. Digital Marketing Manager: Digital marketing is need of an hour now days. Digital marketing manager is responsible to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Social Media Marketing (SMO), Pay Per Click (PPC), content development etc. Digital marketing is as important as ancient marketing. Digital marketing helps to create buzz in branding and promotions.
  1. Customer Relationship Manager: Customer relationship manager is responsible for combining practice, strategies and technologies that organizations use to manage and analyze customer interaction and data throughout customer lifecycle. The role of CRM is to improve customer relationship and assist in customer retention and drive accelerated sales.
