Will Civil Engineers Remain in Demand in the Future?

Forecasts and studies reveal the fact that India is expected to experience a growth of 11 % in the field of civil construction and related industries from 2020 to 2026. If all the projects run with the pace that they have been planned to, the demand for skilled and efficient civil engineers is sure to reach an all-time high in the coming years.

Massive Demand for Civil Engineers in the Construction industry

As the reports in the Economic Times suggests, the construction sector itself has a deficiency in matching workforce with available projects and works. The gap is as huge as 82% and there is still a shortage of skilled civil engineers in the industry. This indicates that there will remain a massive demand for expert civil engineers in the coming years as well.

The Ever-Rising Global Demand for Civil Engineers

According to the census reports, the global population increases by 1.1% annually, which accounts for an addition of 83 million people every year to the existing crowd. Provision for accommodation and infrastructural development comes hand in hand with such a high population growth, which further ensures the need for civil engineering constructions. This can be regarded as one of the important and sustainable reasons for continuity of demand of civil engineers. Substantiating the same, the Global Market Insights Inc. reports further reveal that by 2025, the civil engineering industry will attain a volume of USD 11.72 trillion.

Diverse Opportunities

As far as employment is concerned, civil engineering domain has the power to offer a variety of jobs in multiple related domains like hydraulic construction, coastal and ocean constructions, urban development, and much more that establishes its prosperity in the times to come.

For all the above-mentioned reasons and more, civil engineering will surely stay in focus as an employment generator for the years to come.
