Department of Information Technology, GNIOT, organized a webinar on 16th December, 2020. Director of the Institute, Dr. Rajesh Goel, gave the Inaugural Address, and shared his knowledge on Open Source learning. Head of Information and Technology Department, Dr. Ramveer Singh welcomed the dignitaries, guest and participants, and highlighted the importance and advantages of Open source in learning.

Expert of the event Mr. Ashutosh Kumar Singh is working as Associate Vice president (Technical).He introduced students to open source communities and its role in enhancement of your skills. Expert gave a brief insight into features provided by open sources like (GitHub) and differentiates between open source and closed source. Mr. Ashutosh asked students to participate these open source communities like GNDC (Greater Noida Developer community), pi Delhi (for python) and others. He also emphasized how your contribution in open source projects can help in your career growth. Overall the session was beneficial to the participants.

Outcomes: -

Students were introduced to the Open Source Platforms and communities. They got to know how to connect with open source communities to find a mentor for better guidance in a particular domain and how they can contribute in open source projects.
